Son appears in court charged with Westmeath murder

A 28-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his father Stefan Nivelles Posschier in Co Westmeath last month.

The body of the 65-year-old was found at his home at Rattin, near Kinnegad, on 25 October.

A well-known tarot card reader and fortune teller, Mr Posschier had been living in the area for more than 20 years.

Ross O’Rourke, of no fixed abode, was brought before Mullingar District Court this morning.

He is charged with the murder of his father Mr Posschier on dates between 24 and 25 October last.

Detective Sergeant David Donnelly from Mullingar Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution during this morning’s brief sitting.

He told Judge Bernadette Owens that the accused made no comment when the charges were put to him at 10.10am today.

Mr O’Rourke was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison to appear before next Thursday’s sitting of Mullingar District Court via video link.
