Ukraine air defence likely caused Poland explosion – Nato chief

The Nato chief Jens Stoltenberg says the missile that hit Poland late on Tuesday was “likely” caused by the activity of Ukraine’s air defence systems
He echoed the words of Poland’s President Duda, who also said there was no sign that the missile hit was part of an intentional attack
Two people were killed after a missile landed in eastern Poland near the Ukrainian border following a wave of Russian strikes across Ukraine
Earlier, PM Rishi Sunak said the UK and its allies were trying to establish the facts about the blast
US President Joe Biden has also said it was “unlikely” that the missile was fired from Russia
The American reaction earned rare praise from Russia – with a Kremlin spokesman describing it as “restrained and professional”
